Hyundai Motor sales rise 5.1 pct in Aug.
SEOUL, Sept. 1 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's leading automaker, said Thursday that its sales in August rose 5.1 percent from a year earlier on solid demand for its vehicles at home and abroad.
Hyundai Motor sold 307,320 vehicles last month, with domestic sales moving up 4 percent to 51,322 units. It also said overseas sales rose 5.3 percent on-year to 255,998 units. Total overseas sales include cars made in South Korea and foreign assembly plants.
In the first eight months of the year, Hyundai said sales rose 9.8 percent on-year to over 2.58 million vehicles. Overseas sales increased 10.1 percent to 2.13 million units with domestic sales gaining 8.6 percent to 455,765 units.
