MOSCOW, September 1 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev
has congratulated his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov upon the Central
Asian republic's Independence Day, the Kremlin press service said on
Thursday.
"For 20 years of its independence the country has passed a long way in
the economic, social and political life as well as in education, science
and culture," the Russian leader said in his message placed on the Kremlin
website.
"The Russian-Uzbekistani relations of friendship and cooperation have
been expanding. Regular political contacts, a trust-based dialogue at the
highest level and a shared vision of global processes allow us to
constructively address important issues on a mutually beneficial basis,"
the message read.
"I am confident that close cooperation between our states, both
bilaterally and through regional and international organizations, will be
further strengthened in the interests of our nations, peace and stability
in the Central Asian region."
