Sky train for Vientiane residents

(KPL) Department of Planning and Cooperation of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and the FSG Flagship Conductivity Group have signed here early this month a memorandum of understanding on the first sky train project of Vientiane.
According to the document the investor is allowed to conduct feasibility study on the project, which will last around 12 months. If it is economically beneficial the Japanese investor will implement the construction works of the project, which will last 4-5 years, and the investment project will be in form of Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT).
Due to tentative construction plan, the train will have a 51-km railway with six terminals. The rail will stretch from the First Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge-Wattay International Airport-Thongpong-the National University of Laos-the SEA Games Stadium-the central of Vientiane.Signatories to the document were Mr. Phetsamone Vilaphan, Deputy Head of Department of Planning and Cooperation, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and Mr. Andrew K. Khoh, Representative of FSG Flagship Conductivity Group for Southeast Asia. The signing was witnessed by Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport Mr. Sithong Thongkeo and Vice Mayor of Vientiane Mr. Bounchanh Sinthavong and relevant officials of both sides.
