Int'l conference in Moscow to discuss world mart of isotope

MOSCOW, September 4 (Itar-Tass) - Sunday is the opening day of an
international conference on isotopes, which Russia hosts for the first
time ever, a high-rank spokesman for the State Nuclear Power Corporation
/Rosatom/ told Itar-Tass.
Rosatom is the organizer and host of the conference.
Mikhail Batkov, the director of the corporation's Radiation
Technologies program, said: "The choice of Russia as a host country of the
7th international isotope conference is not accidental."
"This testifies to our country's authoritative standing in the world
nuclear community, since Russia is a creator of the isotope industry as
such,"
"We own unique advanced technologies and occupy a serious share of the
world isotope market," Batkov said, "Also, we have a huge potential for
further development."
Rosatom officials underline the fact that this year's conference, a
vital event for the nuclear science and for this sector of business brings
together the world nuclear industry elite.
The list of co-organizers of the event features the World Council on
Isotopes, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Belgian Nuclear
Research Center /SCK-CEN/, the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology
Organization /ANSTO/, and a number of other leading companies and
organizations in the field of isotope manufacturing.
At Rosatom's initiative, the itinerary of the 7th conference includes,
in addition to plenary sessions and sectional meetings, a business program
making it possible for the participants to discuss the ways of creating an
investor-friendly climate, expansion of the spheres where isotopes can be
utilized and the buildup of production capabilities.
Russian hosts are confident that the enlarged format of a scientific
conference looks quite logical in the conditions where science and
business are drawing their positions closer to each other - both in Russia
and worldwide.
