Sparkling laser show on Vorobyevy Hills culminate City Day.

MOSCOW, September 5 (Itar-Tass) -- A sparking laser show on the
Vorobyevy Hills culminated the celebrations on the occasion of the 864th
anniversary of the Moscow City.
The show began after 10 p.m. Moscow time on Sunday, when the dark fell
on the city and the facade of the main building of the Moscow State
University was turned in a gigantic screen for laser projections for a
little bit more than an hour.
The legendary skyscraper turned in some kind of time machine, which
took the spectators on an imaginary tour to the past, the present and the
future. George the Victorious killing the dragon, the flight of a fabulous
Firebird, the first man spaceflight, scientific progress, the creation of
television, the first computer were showed to enchanted spectators, who
welcomed each picture with loud applauses.
The university 'turned' in an ice palace, an aquarium, 'transformed'
magically in the Eiffel Tower, the Big Ben, the Sydney Opera House, Taj
Mahal, the St. Basil Cathedral, the Bolshoi Theatre, Egyptian pyramids, a
gigantic bookshelf, a Tetris game screen or 'disappeared' at all.
The final 'transformation' of the skyscraper in a festive cake with
celebration candles and certainly a grandiose fireworks, which painted the
Moscow skies in the millions of colored lights, was welcomed with a burst
of applauses.
David Atkins, who staged the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games
in Vancouver and Sydney, presented the holiday entitled Alfa-Show 4D to
the Muscovites and Moscow guests. Over 1,000 specialists participated in
the creation of the laser show with more than 2,000 cubic meters of
metallic structures mounted and 81 video projectors involved.
The laser show, which was absolutely free for all people, can be put
on the Guinness Record Book as the largest world laser projection on a
total of 25,500 square meters.
