Top show host apologizes for cheating on taxes

SEOUL, Sept. 5 (Yonhap) -- One of the nation's top TV show hosts on Monday apologized through his agency for failing to declare his income properly.
The apology came after a local newspaper reported, quoting officials at the National Tax Service, that Kang Ho-dong, 41, was audited and ordered to pay hundreds of millions of won in additional taxes after failing to declare all of his taxable income.
Kang's agency confirmed the report and pledged Kang will faithfully carry out his duty as a citizen to pay taxes.
"Kang raised an objection at some points while faithfully cooperating with the tax probe, but the conclusion was that he paid less money in taxes than he was supposed to pay. So he was ordered to pay the additional taxes," the agency said in a press statement.
"Kang said he apologizes to the people for causing concerns whatever the reason may be," the agency added.
