RF, Kyrgyzstan stop drug supplies channel to Russia.
BISHKEK, September 6 (Itar-Tass) -- Special services of Russia and
Kyrgyzstan have organised a joint operation to stop an international
channel of heavy drugs supplies to Russia, press service of Kyrgyzstan's
state national security committee said on Monday.
"Our staff fulfilled the mission jointly with Russia's FSB," the
source said. "A citizen of Tajikistan was detained in Yekaterinburg as he
was receiving a shipment of drugs."
The man had 6.23 kilograms of heroin.
"Investigators of Russia's FSB have opened a criminal case," the
source said.
Experts say that drugs are being transported via Kyrgyzstan to Russia,
Kazakhstan and further on to European countries. Most of the drugs come
from Afghanistan. Kyrgyzstan's law enforcement authorities arrest annually
several tonnes of various drug substances, where from year to year the
share of the so-called 'heavy drugs', including heroin, is growing
permanently.
