Bus drivers competition finals begin in Lipetsk Wed.

LIPETSK, September 7 (Itar-Tass) - The three-day finals of the
all-Russia Best Bus Driver compettion in professional skills begin here on
Wednesday.
The contest is involving about 80 drivers from 25 regions of Russia.
On the first day, drivers of PAZ buses are to demonstrate their skills,
and LIAZ bus drivers will compete on Thursday. On Sept 9 all contestants
are to take a theoretical exam for the knowledge of road traffic rules.
The exam is to be followed by a ceremony of the presentation of wards to
winners.
Arrangements for professional skill competitions for the drivers of
mass types of transport vehicles are provided for by the Federal
purpose-oriented programme "Measures to Raise Road Traffic Safety in the
2006-2012 Period". The competitions are aimed at improving the
professional skills of drivers, at raising the prestige of work in the
transport sector and at cultivating standards of tolerant behaviour of
participants in road traffic.
The Russian Ministry of Transport acts as organizer of such
competitions.
