Iran, Iraq Working to Supply Islamic Market Demands
TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iraqi trade official underlined Tehran and Baghdad's ability to supply the demands of the Muslim world market, and called for stronger ties between the two countries.
"Iran and Iraq enjoy the ability to supply the needs of the markets of the Islamic countries in the region," Head of Iraq's Union of Chambers of Commerce Jaffar Rassoul al-Hamdani said in a meeting with the head and members of Iran's Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.
"The relations between Iran and Iraq should be strengthened and all of us should work wisely to create common grounds for the development of the ties between the two countries," Hamadani noted.
He reminded the West's and US concentration on the market of the developing countries, specially the Middle-Eastern nations, and noted, "The economic crisis in the US has turned the third world into a new market for the westerners and in fact the markets of the third world are a spring for the US companies."
Iran and Iraq have enjoyed growing ties ever since the overthrow of the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, in 2003.
Both sides are working on a series of plans to take wide strides in expanding their ties.
Early in July, Iran and Iraq agreed to boost the value of their trade exchanges to $20bln in the near future.
