Chinese economy grows revised 10.4 pct last year
HONG KONG, Sept. 7 (Yonhap) -- The Chinese economy grew last year at a faster pace than previously estimated thanks to robust industrial expansion, the statistics office said Wednesday.
The country's gross domestic product (GDP), the broadest measure of economic performance, grew a revised 10.4 percent in 2010, up 0.1 percent points faster than the earlier estimate, China's National Bureau of Statistics said.
China's GDP is usually assessed three times. The figure released on Wednesday was the result of the second assessment.
The increase was attributed to the steady growth in the goods production and service industries.
The statistics bureau also revised up nominal GDP to 40.1 trillion yuan (US$6.27 trillion) from 39.8 trillion yuan.
China's GDP accounted for about 9.5 percent of the global total in 2010, almost twice as much as five years earlier. It represents a 5 percent gain from 2005.
The size of China's GDP was about 40.2 percent of that of the United States in 2010, which compares with 17.9 percent in 2005.
