PTT opens new gas separation plant in Rayong Province

BANGKOK, September 8 (TNA) - PTT Public Company Limited, Thailand’s largest petroleum firm, has opened its 6th gas separation plant and liquefied natural gas receiving terminal in Rayong Province.

Speaking at its opening ceremony on Wednesday, PTT President Prasert Bunsumpan said the plant would support the development of Thailand’s petrochemical industry and help produce LNG to meet local demands. He noted that the plant could generate up to about 630,000 tons of ethane, 1.03 million tons of propane and LPG, and 160,000 tons of NGL per year.

According to the PTT president, the plant would become Thailand’s largest gas separation compound with a capacity to treat up to 800 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

Also on Wednesday, PTT LNG Company Limited’s LNG Terminal, the first LNG receiving terminal in Southeast Asia, opened for operations in Rayong’s Map Ta Phut Sub-district. The facility would serve exclusively to store PTT’s LNG imports into the kingdom to feed growing domestic demand. (TNA)
