S. Korea, Texas sign driver's license deal

SEOUL, Sept. 9 (Yonhap) -- South Korea on Friday signed a deal with the U.S. state of Texas that will allow Koreans residents or travelers to trade their driver's license for an American one without further testing.
Under the accord, the South Korean government and the Texas state government agreed to mutually recognize non-commercial driver's licenses for Koreans in Texas and vice versa, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Texas became the fifth U.S. state to ink a similar agreement with South Korea after Maryland, Virginia, Washington and Massachusetts, the ministry said.
The ministry said it will continue to make efforts to have foreign countries recognize South Korean driver's licenses for the convenience of overseas Koreans.
