Kim thankful to Pyongyang residents for good parade organisation.
PYONGYANG, September 10 (Itar-Tass) - Kim Jong-Il expressed gratitude
to residents of the North Korean capital for successful organisation of
the parade on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the country, which
was staged here last Friday.
The KCNA news agency reports on Saturday that according to the
secretary-general of the Korean Workers Party and chairman of the State
Defence Committee, the parade "showed the invincible might of the Kim
Il-Sung Korea where people and the army closely rallied behind their
revolutionary staff".
Streamlined ranks of fighters, including teenage girls from the
Workers and Peasants as well as Youth Red Guards marched by the honorary
stand in the Pyongyang central square on Friday where there were the North
Korean leader, his junior son Kim Jong-Un, military leaders, statesmen and
party functionaries. Units of the Korean People's Army did not participate
in the parade.
Many hundred thousands of military servicemen and demonstrators
enthusiastically chanted "Long Live Kin Jong-Il!" and greeted their
leader, waving artificial flowers. The square was decorated with flags of
North Korea and the Korean Workers Party (KWP), posters and streamers with
inscriptions "Long live revolutionary ideas of Kim Il-Sung!" and "Be ready
to defend the country at the expense of your own life!".
A state reception was held on the occasion of he national holiday in
Pyongyang where chairman of the presidium of the North Korean Supreme
People's Assembly Kim Yong Nam delivered a speech. The parliament speaker
noted that the people and the army "make a big leap forward in all the
fronts of social construction on the eve of the 100th birth date of North
Korea founder Kim Il-Sung, which will be marked next year".
Performances by the best show biz companies were staged in Pyongyang
and other cities in connection with the holiday. The orchestra and chorus
of the famous Mansudae troupe staged a concert at the Pyongyang Bolshoi
Theatre. They rendered such works as "Great Homeland", "Long live
Generalissimo Kim Il-Sung!" and "We shall score victory under your
guidance".
KCNA notes that actors paid their due to "immortal services" of North
Korea founder Kim Il-Sung who created a rock-firm foundation for
well-being of future Korean generations, by building the socialist state,
based on principles of independence, self-sufficient economy and powerful
self-defence".
Circus acrobats in Pyongyang showed an interesting programme,
"charging viewers with revolutionary optimism and joy". Many foreigners
attended the bright performance "Arian" which is regarded the world's
most massive sport-artistic show.
