Tokyo air traffic controller posts Air Force One flight plan on blog

TOKYO, Sept. 10 Kyodo -
An air traffic controller at Tokyo's Haneda airport posted images on his blog containing the flight plan for the U.S. presidential aircraft Air Force One and probably posted that for a Global Hawk unmanned high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft as well, government officials said Saturday.
The posting of the images on the blog, which have already been deleted, triggered a U.S. warning for its security ally and Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda is set to explain the incident when he holds talks with U.S. President Barack Obama later this month, diplomatic sources said.
The transport ministry has launched an investigation and is considering taking disciplinary action against the air traffic controller for breach of confidentiality, ministry officials said.
The chief controller at Haneda in his 50s posted 12 images, which included a flight plan for Air Force One at the time of Obama's visit to Japan last November for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum summit in Yokohama.
The images also included a flight plan for the Global Hawk deployed in March to collect data on the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant that was crippled by the devastating quake and tsunami that month, the government officials said.
The images of the flight plans were taken at Haneda's control room either immediately before the departure of flights or during the flights, according to the ministry officials.
The United States has urged Japan to make every effort to prevent any recurrence of such a leakage of confidential information, the diplomatic sources said.
Other images showed photos of inside the control tower and a man believed to be the air controller himself.
The man told the ministry officials he had taken pictures of a computer display with his own digital camera and posted them on his blog the following day or later, according to the ministry.
