Iran to Install Huge Oil Platform in Persian Gulf

TEHRAN (FNA)- Managing Director of TASDID Offshore Development Company Amin Panahi announced that the Iranian experts plan to install a huge platform in the largest oil field in the Persian Gulf, Reshadat oil field.
Panahi described the dimensions of P-4 platform as 42 meters long and 43 meters wide platform with the height of 70 meters.

The platform weights 3,100 tons which by adding the weight of its stabilizer legs will reach 4,050 tons. The installation of 9,000 tons of marine structures over the platform has been planned, the official stated.

"After the start up operation of the platform, 75,000 barrels of oil per day will be added to the country's oil production," the managing director of TASDID Offshore Development Company said.

The platform was designed, built, and installed by Iranian engineers. The construction of the platform by Iranian experts has saved the country a lot of foreign exchange, Panahi said.

The old Reshadat oil field came on stream in 1969 and was devastated by Iraqi warplanes and US naval forces during the Iraqi-imposed war in 1986. The oil production was halted for four years, and then Iranian oil industry personnel could repair the field. The field is located in the Persian Gulf, 110km south-west of Lavan Island.
