Russia's deputy premier to conduct video conf on harvesting
MOSCOW, September 13 (Itar-Tass) - Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov
is expected to conduct a videoconference on the "progress of seasonal
agricultural works", or harvesting, later Tuesday.
A total of thirty regional governors are due to take part in it.
The discussion will focus on the provisional results of harvesting and
the measures to regulate the domestic grain market considering the
forecasts for this year's grain harvest and the dynamics of Russian grain
exports.
Also, the participants are going to discuss the planting of winter
crops that has already begun in a number of Russia's regions.
Efficient spring planting and harvesting is one of the priority areas
of control for the Russian government this year.
Government agencies have implemented a range of organizational and
financial steps that have laid the materiel, technology and resource base
for getting a harvest of grain crops capable of meeting the domestic
market and pushing up the export potential, a government source said.
These measures helped harvest a total of 71.5 million tons of grain by
September 9 and raise the exports of grain to 5.7 million tons by
September 1.
