Samsung lodges patent complaint against Apple in France
SEOUL, Sept. 13 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co., the world's second-biggest mobile phone maker, said Tuesday that it has filed a complaint in France claiming that Apple Inc.'s iPhone and iPad violated its mobile technology patents.
The Korean company alleged that Apple infringed on three mobile-phone technology patents in a complaint filed with a Paris district court in July.
"The complaint focuses on three technology patents, and not on the design of the tablets," a Samsung spokeswoman told Agence France-Presse.
Samsung is locked in multiple legal disputes with Apple in more than a dozen countries in the United States, Europe and Asia over patents and designs of mobile devices. In April, Apple accused Samsung of copying the "look and feel" of the iPhone and the iPad with its Galaxy series of mobile devices. Samsung then countersued Apple.
Last week, a Dusseldorf court rejected a request by Samsung to nullify Apple's injunction granted earlier to ban the sale of the Galaxy Tab tablet computer in Germany, ruling that Samsung's tablet computer copied the iPad. Samsung plans to appeal the decision to a higher court.
Samsung's Galaxy Tab, which runs on the Android operating system, is seen as the closest rival to the iPad, which dominates the global tablet market.
