Honda to recall 1,400 cars in S. Korea for defective window

SEOUL (Yonhap) - Japanese automaker Honda Motor Co. will recall some 1,400 units of its CR-V utility vehicle in South Korea for a defective power window switch that could melt or cause a fire, Seoul's transportation ministry said Wednesday.
Vehicles subject to the recall are 1,403 CR-V models sold here between Oct. 5, 2005 and July 11, 2006, according to the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs.
The ministry said wires to the power window switch on the driver side have been found to wear out over time, causing the window switch to melt or even catch fire.
Owners of vehicles subject to the recall may contact any service centers run by Honda Korea, the local importer and distributor of the Japanese automaker, for free repairs from Thursday, or have their costs reimbursed if they have already replaced the defective part.
