Russia supports Syrian people and Syria--Margelov.

BEIRUT, September 14 (Itar-Tass) - Russia supports the Syrian people
and the country named Syria," Mikhail Margelov, Chairman of the Federation
Council Committee on International Affairs, has told Itar-Tass here in an
interview. He said, "Russia's position on all Arab states has been and
remains unambiguous." "The peoples of those countries are our friends," he
emphasized.
When commenting on reports about anti-Russian debauchery during
demonstrations in Syria, Margelov pointed out that the delegation of the
Syrian opposition who visited Moscow last week officially apologized for
the excesses that involved the burning of Russian flags in the streets.
"They expressed regret in connection wit the fact that some people at the
wave of emotional behaviour perform those actions unfriendly to Russia,"
Margelov said.
"Those who attentively follow Russia's steps and analyze them will
undoubtedly arrive at a conclusion that Russia sincerely strives to help
the Syrians to find a road to a better future," the Chairman of the FC
Committee on International Affairs pointed out. He said Syria "must remain
an integrated, secular, predictable and peaceful state which played a
substantial role in the past and will continue to play it in future as
well in all Middle Eastern processes".
