Iranian President, Congolese Minister Discuss Expansion of Relations

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the Democratic Republic of Congo's Communications Minister Lambert Mende Omalanga in a meeting here in Tehran on Tuesday conferred on the development of ties between the two states.
At the meeting, the Iranian president asked for more frequent interactions between the two countries, and urged all-out expansion of relations, specially in cultural fields.
He pointed out that Tehran and Kinshasa are in the same front against the world hegemonic powers, and stated that the justice-seeking nations of the two countries have always shown resistance against the bullying powers.
Omalanga, for his part, voiced his country's enthusiasm for enhancing the level of relations between the two states.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's administration has striven hard to maximize relations with the African continent.
Iran is also an observing member of the AU and has shown an active presence in previous AU summit meetings.
The country is considered as one of the AU's strategic partners along with India, Japan, China, several South American states and Turkey, while Tehran is also believed to be prioritizing promotion of its economic and political ties with the African states.
