ANKARA (A.A) - September 14, 2011 - Turkish dailies mostly covered in their Wednesday issues the remarks made by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Cairo on Tuesday, Turkish Interior Minister Idris Naim Sahin's comments on a possible land operation against PKK camps in north of Iraq and Western media's statements on Turkey and its role in the region.
Zaman daily quoted Erdogan as saying "the Arab world should not delay reforms". Vatan daily quoted Erdogan as saying "governments in the region should listen to the legitimate demands of their peoples". Milliyet daily quoted Erdogan as saying "we are a deep rooted family. We should be very close to each other with the strength we get from our eternal brotherhood". Hurriyet daily quoted Erdogan as saying "the flag of Palestine must be hoisted at the United Nations. The international recognition of Palestine is not an option but an obligation".
Dailies also highlighted Interior Minister Sahin's comments on a possible land operation against PKK camps in north of Iraq. Yeni Safak daily wrote that Sahin said "a land operation could take place at any moment". Milliyet daily quoted Sahin as saying "a land operation could take place soon based on talks with the Iraqi government".
