COM: Alliance to form traders' advisory board on FBR issues

LAHORE, September 14, 2011 (PPI): The PIAF-Founders Alliance has decided to constitute an Advisory Board of Traders that would work hand in hand with the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to remove complications in the Sales Tax Return form and implementation of business friendly policies.

The proposed Advisory Board comprising representatives of chambers and all the trade associations would be tasked to prepare its recommendations for the simplification of all tax related documents.

This was stated by the PIAF-Founders Alliance leaders Mian Anjum Nisar, Mian Mohammad Ashraf, Iftikhar Ali Malik, Mohammad Ali Mian, PIAF Chairman Engineer Sohail Lashari Sheikh Mohammad Asif and LCCI Senior Vice President Sheikh Mohammad Arshad during their visit to the Brandreth Road and Chamberlane Road on Wednesday.

PIAF-Founders Alliance Associate Class candidates Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Aftab Ahmad Vohra, Khamis Saeed Butt, Nasir Saeed, Mohammad Amjad Chaudhry, Zeeshan Khalil Waqar Ahmad Mian were also present on the occasion.

The Alliance leaders said that at a time when the business community was facing multiple internal and external challenges including an acute shortage of electricity, high markup rate and law and order situation in some parts of the country, the Federal Board of Revenue is planning to evolve new methodologies to disturb to businessmen by introducing new sales tax return forms.

They said that the country’s business community has both the ability and the capacity to guide the government out of ongoing economic mess but it was very unfortunate that the businessmen were not taken on board while preparing economic policies.

They said that if a cut in markup rate is announced, this one step would enable to government to have an expedited industrialization in the country that would definitely bring down the fast going up graph of unemployment.

The Alliance leaders urged the government to evolve a solid and foolproof strategy to deal with the law and order situation in Karachi as it had not only sent a very wrong signal abroad but also

keeping potential foreign investors away.

It is not only the foreign investment, but the local investors are also planning to shift their operation to other countries.

Earlier, the PIAF-Founders Alliance leaders and candidates was warmly welcomed by Brandreth Road business community leader Abdul Rab, who gave a detailed briefing to the alliance leaders on infrastructure related issues being faced by the traders of Brandreth Road. He said that the traders of Brandreth Road traders are with the PIAF-Founders Alliance and would continue their support in the future as well.

At Chamberlane Road, LCCI Executive Committee member Fahimur Rehman Sehgol and other market leaders received the Alliance delegation and announced their unequivocal support. They said that vote to alliance candidates means continuity in chamber policies and the trading community want continuity in all business related policies in the larger interests of the country.

Meanwhile, the PIAF-Founders Alliance candidates for Corporate Class Farooq Iftikhar, Mian Abuzar Shad, Kashif Younas Mehar, Shahzeb Akram, Ahmad Hasnain, Raees Ahmad Sheikh, Hasnain Reza Mirza and Mehmood Ghaznavi were remained busy in contacting and meeting with the voters of Corporate Class. They would start visits of industrial areas soon.
