Citibank Korea pays highest salary among lenders
SEOUL (Yonhap) - Citibank Korea Inc. paid the highest salary among major banks in the country in the first half of this year, industry data showed Thursday.
The South Korean unit of the U.S.-based Citigroup Inc. paid an average of 6.17 million won (US$5,593) a month to its workers in January-June period, according to the data.
Workers at Shinhan Bank, the flagship unit of the country's No. 3 banking group Shinhan Financial Group Co., got a paycheck of an average 5.7 million won a month.
The top lender Kookmin Bank and SC First Bank, the local unit of British Standard Chartered PLC, paid 5.5 million won and 5.3 million won on average, respectively, to their employees.
Hana Bank, the country's fourth-largest lender, rounded out the bottom of the list with 4.2 million won, they showed.
