KRASNOYARSK, September 15 (Itar-Tass) - A senior high school student
from Dudinka, the Krasnoyarsk territory, will participate in a Russian
Arctic expedition in 2012.
The Russian Association of Polar Explorers has decided that Maxim
Bogdanov will become the expedition member. But, he will have to take a
training course to learn the art of survival in harsh Arctic conditions at
a training camp in the Republic of Karelia.
Maxim Bogdanov won the Grand Prix of the third international
"Children of the Arctic" festival for the "Save the Arctic" environmental
project. He presented it at an international conference called "Our Arctic
- Our Future".
As the young author says, he wanted to draw public attention to
the environmental situation in the Arctic region.
"In his work, the schoolboy suggests methods of clearing the Arctic
territories from industrial garbage and metal tanks from fuel and other
waste," the press service of the administration of the Taimyr Peninsula
told Itar-Tass.
Another high school student from Taimyr - Valeria Savchenko - has
a received a diploma for her report on the most ancient Taimyr ethnic
group - the Nganasan people.
The team from Taimyr was the winner in the "National cuisine"
contest. They cooked a dish from deer meat that literally conquered the
stomachs of the jury.
The third international "Children of the Arctic" festival was held
in the town of Ruza, the Moscow region, and a children's health
improvement camp in the Republic of Karelia.
