Russia's Gazprom, DPRK set up working group on gas pipeline project.

MOSCOW, September 15 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia's national gas utility
Gazprom and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will set up a
working group on a project of Russian gas supplies to the Korean
Peninsula. A decision to this effect was taken at a Thursday meeting
between Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and North Korean Minister of the Oil
Industry Kim Hui Yong, Gazprom's press office reported on Thursday.
"The sides discussed practical aspects related to the project of
pipeline supplies of natural gas from Russia to the Korean Peninsula. An
agreement on this project was reached by the leaders of the two countries
during their meeting in Ulan Ude in August 2011," the press office said.
"Thus, the sides agreed to set up a joint working group to implement
this project, and to look at other promising areas of cooperation," the
press office continued.
Participants in the meeting noted that it is necessary for both
governments to render comprehensive support to the projects for the
construction of the pipeline. To this end, an intergovernmental agreement
on the project is to be signed the soonest possible.
The North Korean Ministry of the Oil Industry and Gazprom signed a
memorandum of understanding.
