Seoul shares up 3.31 pct in late-morning trade

SEOUL (Yonhap) - South Korean stocks traded 3.31 percent higher late Friday morning, as investor sentiment improved on European central banks' coordinated plan to lend eurozone banks U.S. dollars, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 58.77 points to 1,832.85 as of 11:20 a.m.
Tech shares led the rally, with market bellwether Samsung Electronics soaring 4.28 percent and its smaller rival LG Electronics up 2.65 percent.
Korea Electric Power Corp., the state-run power provider, rose 3.5 percent despite a massive blackout on the previous day.
The local currency was trading at 1,106.3 won to the greenback as of 11:20 a.m., up 10.1 won from Thursday's close.
