Grave crimes decrease in Russia - minister

ABAKAN, September 16 (Itar-Tass) -- The number of grave crimes
declined this year in Russia, Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev said on
Thursday during a trip to Khakassia.
"The number of grave and very grave crimes decreased 12.2 percent in
the eight months of the year," he said and specified he was speaking about
murders, attempted murders, rapes, robbery assaults, burglaries, and
thefts.
Hooliganism and extortion are also declining, according to the
minister.
He also said the clear-up rate was on the rise and over 900 thousand
crimes were exposed nationwide in the eight months of the year.
"The positive trend in the fall of unexposed crimes continues,"
Nurgaliyev said adding the total number of registered crimes fell 8.8
percent in Russia in the period.
