Several agreements to be signed during Chinese visit to Belarus

MINSK, September 17 (Itar-Tass) - A Chinese parliamentary delegation,
led by chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese parliament U
Bango, arrived in Belarus on an official visit, reported the press service
of the Belarussian parliament.
According to the press service, the two sides plan to sign a
memorandum of mutual understanding and cooperation between the parliaments
of the two countries.
Besides, it is expected that several agreements at the government
level will be signed during the four-day visit, including credits
agreements on building a Vitebsk hydropower station and creating an
industrial park in the Smolevichsky district. The delegation plans to
participate in a stone-laying ceremony of a Pekin Hotel whose construction
will be launched in Minsk.
A class named after Confucius will be opened at Minsk State
Linguistics University.
The Chinese delegation will hold meetings with President Alexander
Lukashenko, Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnichenko and the two speakers of
the Belarussian bicameral parliament.
According to speaker of the Belarussian parliament lower chamber
Vladimir Andreichenko, Minsk "attaches exclusive importance" to the
development of cooperation between Belarus and China. "We value much
constructive relations that have developed between the legislatures," he
said. "We value the fact that the PRC has constantly backed the
independent course of Belarus. We are grateful to China for permanent
support for our country in international organisations."
According to official data, trade between the two countries already
reached over 1.7 billion US dollars during the seven months in 2011,
increasing by more than 40 percent as against the corresponding period
last year.
