Ahmadinejad Urges Iranian, American Religious Leaders to Set up Joint Committee

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a meeting with Christian and Muslim American leaders called for the formation of a committee of Iranian and American religious leaders to expand the relations between the two nations.
"The reality of religion has not yet been provided with a chance to rule the world, and the religious leaders of all countries should help each other and run consultation in a bid to provide this opportunity for the religious teachings."

"Different religions should not discuss the past but they should look at the future and think about building the future without war and conflict," he added.

During the meeting, the four religious US leaders welcomed Ahmadinejad's proposal to form an inter-religion committee between Iran and the US.

The four religious American leaders had earlier attended the First International Islamic Awakening Conference in Tehran on Saturday.

Over 600 foreign thinkers and intellectuals from 80 world countries and over 400 elites from Iran are attending the two-day conference.
