Bushfire threat eases in Blue Mountains

SYDNEY(AAP) - The threat to homes from a bushfire in the Blue Mountains has eased, the Rural Fire Service (RFS) says.
An RFS spokesman says 40 firefighters and 10 trucks will work through the night to contain and extinguish the fire, which had threatened seven homes at Olympian Parade in Leura.
He said the blaze was not yet under control but the immediate danger to homes had passed.
"The threat that was there earlier to properties has eased quite significantly," the spokesman told AAP.
Residents who missed the time to leave their homes had been advised to take shelter and protect themselves from the heat.
The RFS has not ruled out the possibility the fire was deliberately lit.
