High representatives for security meet in Yekaterinburg Wed
YEKATERINBURG, September 21 (Itar-Tass) - The 2nd international
meeting of High Representatives in charge of security affairs is held here
on Wednesday.
The two-day meeting is to be attended by the Secretaries of national
Security Councils, assistants to the presidents and prime ministers on
national security affairs, the chiefs of security organizations from over
60 countries, representatives of the United Nations and Russian law
enforcement agencies and special services.
Those present are to consider matters aimed at stepping up
international cooperation in the fight against the manifestations of
extremism and crisis situations brought on by interethnic enmity,
religious intolerance, racism; priorities in ensuring food security in the
context of global partnership; common approaches to the strengthening of
international information security.
An official at the information department of the governor of
Sverdlovsk Region has told Itar-Tass that it is not by chance that
Yekaterinburg has been chosen as the venue for the meeting. "We want to
show present-day Russia to the high guests. This meeting is also a good
floor for the conclusion of a number of agreements on cooperation in
various sectors, This will make it possible to additionally attract
investments in the economy of Russia and Sverdlovsk Region," the
departmental official said.
