Medvedev congratulates Armenia on Independence Day
YEREVAN, September 21 (Itar-Tass) - President Dmitry Medvedev of the
Russian Federation has congratulated the leader of Armenia, Serge
Sargsyan, and "the friendly Armenian people on the occasion of the 20th
anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the Republic of
Armenia". The text of the congratulatory message has been circulated here
by the press service of the Head of Armenia.
Medvedev writes, "Over the years that have passed since, the Republic
has made marked strides in the economy and the social welfare sector, and
has enhanced its prestige in the international arena. We are gratified to
note that the foundation of the traditionally goodneighbourly relations
between Russia and Armenia, the relations that have deep historical roots,
has been consolidated on a new basis".
The message says further as follows: "At present we successfully
develop versatile contacts in the spirit of allied partnership. Through
joint efforts we open up new promising areas of interaction in trade,
economic, investment, humanitarian and other spheres".
Medvedev expects that Sargsyan's forthcoming visit to Russia in
October "will give a considerable impetus to further all-round development
of cooperation".
The President of the RF is confident that "The fruitful political
dialogue, and the coordinated work within the scope of integration
institutions throughout the Commonwealth of Independent States accord with
the long-term interests of the peoples of Russia and Armenia, and play an
important role in the dynamic development of the entire spectrum of
bilateral relations, and in the strengthening of security and stability in
