Korean Air launches second SkyTeam plane

SEOUL, Sept. 21 (Yonhap) -- Korean Air Lines Co., South Korea's top air carrier, on Wednesday said it has launched its second SkyTeam livery plane into operation as part of its contribution to raising public awareness for the multinational airline alliance.
The SkyTeam, founded in 2000, refers to an alliance of 14 air carriers from all over the world including such companies as Delta Airlines, Air France-KLM, and China Southern Airlines.
Korean Air's new SkyTeam aircraft is a Boeing 737-800 that has been painted white and silver and features a dark blue SkyTeam logo as well as the Korean Air logo.
The airline already operates a B777-200ER long-range airplane that has been painted in the SkyTeam colors. It has been in service since 2009.
The newly painted passenger jet will mostly be flying short distance routes to China, Japan and Southeast Asia from Seoul, according to the company.
The launch of the second SkyTeam aircraft can strengthen the SkyTeam alliance, which in turn can benefit passengers around the world, it added.
