Pak boxing squad to fly Azerbaijan today

ISLAMABAD, September 21, 2011 (PPI): A six-member Pakistan boxing squad will depart from Karachi Airport for Baku, Azerbaijan on late Thursday (today) to participate in World Boxing Championship pencilled in there for September 25 to October 8."

According to Secretary Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF), Akram Khan, squad consists of three pugilists and as many officials. He said Haroon Khan, the younger brother of light welterweight world champion Amir Khan will represent the country in 52 kg category, while the Quetta-born Mohammad Waseem will be vying in 49 kg category.

Syed Mohammad Hussain will contest in 56 kg category and Amir Khan in 64 kg category. Ali Baksh will be the coach and Colonel Qaiser Mustafa the manager, while Pakistan Sports Board (PSB)medical wing chief Dr Waqar Ahmed will also accompany the team. The quarter-finalists of the world event will qualify for the London Olympics.
