SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from September 15-21, 2011.

September
15 Choe Thae-bok, chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), meets with Peter Hughes, outgoing British ambassador to North Korea, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.
15 A national exhibition of urban greening layouts submitted for a contest is held at the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang.
15 A Chinese delegation of the Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, led by its Vice President Wang Zaibang, arrives in Pyongyang.
15 A Russian delegation of the Maritime Territorial Branch of the United Russia Party led by Vladimir Novikov, member of its Regional Political Council and mayor of Artyom City, leaves Pyongyang.
15 The 6th National Martial Art Championship for the September 10 Prize opens at the Taekwondo Hall in Pyongyang.
15 The 12th national exhibition of software in education opens in the Three Revolution Exhibition Hall in Pyongyang.
15 Kim Yong-nam, president of the SPA Presidium, meets with a delegation of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle led by its General Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri.

21 The nuclear envoys of South and North Korea meet in Beijing but fail to agree on terms for re-starting stalled six-party talks on the North's nuclear programs.
21 Lao's President Choummaly Sayasone arrives in Pyongyang on his official goodwill visit to the DPRK upon the invitation of Kim Jong-il. A reception is hosted by the WPK Central Committee to welcome the president at the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang, with Kim Yong-nam, titular head of state, in attendance.
21 A South Korean delegation of 7 religious orders arrives in Pyongyang.
21 A national exhibition of consumer goods opens with due ceremony. On display at the exhibition are more than 35,000 consumer goods produced by light industrial factories in Pyongyang and local industrial factories in various provinces.
21 A delegation from the Netherlands led by Paul Alex Menkveld, the Netherlands' ambassador to the DPRK, flies into Pyongyang.
21 A delegation of the All-China Journalists Association lede by Zhang Xinxin, chief editor of the China News Service, flies into Pyongyang.
21 An agreement between Kimilsung University and Liaoning University of China on exchange and cooperation in the educational and scientific fields is signed in Pyongyang.
21 Yang Hyong-sop, vice president of the SPA Presidium, meets with Maclean Igonikon Omuso, new Nigerian ambassador to the DPRK, and Haissam Saad, charge d' affaires ad interim of the Syrian embassy in Pyongyang, who pays courtesy calls on him at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.
