Russia, Ukraine doomed to search for answers to gas issues.
UNITED NATIONS (Itar-Tass) - A meeting slated to be held
in Moscow on September 24 will give a chance to Ukraine to get "certain
guarantees" in question of natural gas supplies to Europe.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich told a news conference on
Wednesday that a set of efforts designed to secure stable deliveries of
fuel and energy to Europe would be discussed at a meeting with President
Dmitry Medvedev.
"Ukraine is going to have an opportunity to get certain guarantees for
transportation of gas and oil via its territory. Price is also going to be
discussed just as how to build partnership relations in future. We are
doomed to search for answers to these questions together," Yanukovich told
journalists.
He added that modernization of Ukraine's gas transportation system and
the construction of new routes for delivers should be discussed at
negotiations with the owners and consumers of fuel and energy: Russia and
countries of the Caspian region, Central Asia and Europe.
Yanukovich emphasized that stable gas supplies were in the interests of Ukraine, Russia and Europe.
