Another former Lee aide faces probe over corruption

SEOUL (Yonhap) - Shin Jae-min, a former presidential secretary who served as vice culture minister, is about to face prosecutors' probe, as a local businessman claiming to offer Shin more than 1 billion won (US$853,000) in bribes was summoned on Friday.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office said prosecutors questioned Lee Kuk-chul, chairman of SLS Group, who said in several media interview this week that he gave the money over the past decade to Shin, who served as vice culture minister from 2008-09 after supporting Lee's presidential campaign in 2007.
The journalist-turned-politician is now working for a leading law firm.
The businessman told the media that he paid Shin 10 million won to 20 million won every month from 2008 to 2010.
The SLS chairman also claimed he had offered money to several other high-profile officials of the current administration.
The latest revelation, which could deal a heavy blow to the Lee administration if found true, was apparently motivated after Lee's industrial group involved in rolling stock parts manufacturing and shipbuilding among others fell completely apart.
