Samsung sponsors torch relay for 2012 Winter Youth Olympics

SEOUL, Sept. 24 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co. said Saturday it has become a commercial sponsor for the torch relay of the inaugural winter Youth Olympic Games next January. The 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games will take place in Innsbruck, Austria from Jan. 13-22, and a total of 2,012 runners will carry the flame from Dec. 27 across Austria. Under the sponsorship deal with Austria's organizing committee, Samsung will pick 355 torchbearers, the company said in a statement, without giving financial terms of the deal.
