Explosion at Suwon car wash kills three

SUWON, South Korea, Sept. 24 (Yonhap) -- Three people were killed and four others injured when a car wash adjacent to a gas station exploded in this provincial city Saturday, police said. The explosion, which took place in Suwon, 50 kilometers south of Seoul, shortly before noon, destroyed more than 10 vehicles and a dozen houses in the surrounding area, they said. A car wash customer, a Chinese employee and a passer-by were found dead in the explosion, with four others injured, police said, adding that the car wash was run by the gas station. Police officials said the explosion seems linked to a gas tank buried underneath. The gas station was partly destroyed but the blast didn't lead to a secondary explosion. Police said they were investigating the exact cause of the explosion.
