Iranian President Congratulates Guinea-Bissau on Independence Day
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a message on Sunday extended his congratulations to Guinea-Bissau's President Malam Bacai Sanha, government and nation on the country's Independence Day.
"I extend my most sincere congratulations to your Excellency and the freedom-seeking nation and government of your country over the advent of the anniversary of the victory of the great people of Guinea-Bissau in their quest for independence and release from yoke of colonialism," President Ahmadinejad said in his message.
The further expressed the hope that Iran-Guinea relations would experience further growth and development in all political, economic and cultural grounds as a result of Iranian and Guinean officials' determination and efforts.
To conclude his message, Ahmadinejad wished health and success for the Guinean president and wellbeing, welfare and progress for the country's nation and government.
Since he ascended to power in 2005, President Ahmadinejad has striven hard to maximize Iran's relations with the African continent.
Iran is also an observing member of the AU and has shown an active presence in previous AU summit meetings.
The country is considered as one of the AU's strategic partners along with India, Japan, China, several South American states and Turkey, while Tehran is also believed to be prioritizing promotion of its economic and political ties with the African states.
