Prime minister leaves for Bulgaria and Ukraine

SEOUL, Sept. 26 (Yonhap) -- Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik left for Bulgaria on Monday for talks with his counterpart and other officials on boosting cooperation between the two countries.
The trip is also scheduled to take him to Ukraine from Wednesday through Friday for similar talks with Ukrainian officials, the prime minister's office said.
Kim also plans to pay courtesy calls to the presidents of Bulgaria and Ukraine, and sit down with local business figures of the two countries.
He is expected to discuss expanding South Korean companies' investments in the two nations and also increasing bilateral cooperation in agriculture and eco-friendly economic development, according to his office.
Sofia will hold a business fair for Korean companies in Bulgaria, and Kiev will host a similar business forum for Korean businesses during Kim's stay, his office said.
According to Kim's office, Bulgaria has much potential as South Korean firms' gateway into southeastern Europe, and Ukraine, boasting fertile farmlands and advanced aerospace technology, could grow into a viable partner for South Korea in agriculture and aerospace engineering.
Kim also plans to hold a meeting with his traveling press corps during his trip. Kim is set to return home on Sunday via Russia, according to his office.
