Egyptian Activist: Islamic Awakening Inspired by Imam Khomeini's Thoughts
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Islamic Revolution led by the Late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, is the source of inspiration for the growing tides of Islamic awakening in the region, a prominent Egyptian activist stated.
Speaking to FNA, President of Egypt's Sadaat Association Taher al-Hashemi stressed that Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution has played the key role in generating popular movements against Zionists and arrogant powers.
"For the first time, the Islamic Revolution of the Iranian nation generated the concept of hostility towards the Zionist regime and global arrogance," he added.
Hashemi described the Late Imam Khomeini's thoughts as the source of inspiration for Islamic and nations' awakening against their common enemy, i.e. the Zionist regime of Israel.
He recalled the raid on Israeli embassy in Cairo as an example of the Islamic Revolution's influence on the Egyptian revolution.
On September 9, angry Egyptians stormed the Israeli embassy in Cairo, forcing Israeli diplomats to flee.
Following the raid in Cairo, Israeli embassy in Jordan also closed down activity after the threat of a similar move prompted the Zionist officials to take preemptive action and evacuate the embassy in Amman.
Protesters also called on Egypt to abrogate the country's peace treaty with Israel.
