Commander: Islamic Media Should Fight Oppressors, Defend Oppressed

TEHRAN (FNA)- Commander of Iran's Basij (volunteer) force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi urged the Muslim media to endeavor to fight against the oppressive countries and defend the oppressed people of the world.
"The Islamic media have the duty to defend the oppressed continuously and attack the oppressor powerfully," Naqdi said, addressing a gathering of journalists, reporters and media people in Iran's Southern Fars province Iran.

He noted the hegemony of the Zionist-affiliated media over the world, and reiterated, "A large volume of the media products are dedicated to the legitimization of the devilish Zionist regime, yet this regime has never been so much infamous because it is basically in direct contradiction to human nature."

Also, Iranian Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Seyed Mohammad Hosseini yesterday called on Islamic countries' mass media to strive to unveil the western states' support for dictators in the region.

"Westerners have, so far, showed that they support dictators in the Muslim countries and the rulers who are neither a supporter of the people nor an adherent of Islam," Hosseini said, addressing participants in the third Islamic Film Market in Tehran on Sunday.

Addressing the Islamic media, he said, "We should be able to clarify the issue (the West's support for dictators) and show that Islamic is the religion of salvation."
