Iran Unveils New Strategic, Electronic Navigation Systems

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran on Monday unveiled 16 new strategic systems and air-related products in a ceremony attended by Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi.
The new products went on display in separate, but concurrent ceremonies held in Tehran's Mehrabad air base and other air bases in Hamedan, Tabriz, Isfahan, Chabahar, Dezfoul and Shiraz.

Addressing the ceremony, Vahidi hailed the home-grown technologies developed and used for the production of these new systems, and stated that the products have been designed and developed in Shiraz's Darsa Electronic Industries.

The products include approach control radar systems used at airport control towers to direct approaching planes from a distance of 30km and through landing and parking phases.

Ground-based Taken Transponder Radio Navigation System was another system displayed during the ceremonies, and Vahidi said that Iran has now joined the only three world countries which are capable of manufacturing this product.

The minister said that Iran's ability to develop several electronic navigation systems unveiled that Iranian experts are able to break the sanctions imposed on Iran's air industries by the West.

The minister also stressed that the new achievements will largely improve the operational power of the Iranian Armed Forces, Air Force in particular.
