Kyrgyz-Russian JV to supply fuel to TTC in Manas
BISHKEK, September 27 (Itar-Tass) -- The Kyrgyz-Russian joint venture
"Gazpromneft-Aero Kyrgyzstan" will supply fuel to Transit Transportations
Centre (TTC) situated in the Bishkek aerodrome Manas in 45 days,
ambassador of the United States to Kyrgyzstan Pamela Spratlen said here
on Tuesday. According to her, a corresponding contract between
"Gazpromneft-Aero Kyrgyzstan" and the TTC was signed by the sides on
September 26.
"The one-year contract envisages supplies of 240,000 metric tonnes of
fuel at a cost of about 300-400 million dollars," director of "Gazpromneft-
Aero Kyrgyzstan" Tilek Isayev said. "It will meet about half the
requirements of the TTC." The fuel will be delivered to Kyrgyzstan from
the Moscow, Omsk and Yaroslavl oil refineries, as well as from the
enterprises "Rosneft-aero" and "Lukoil-Aero."
According the contract, initially, during 90 days, "Gazpromneft-Aero
Kyrgyzstan" will carry out 20 percent of the supplies required by the TTC.
On the expiry of the given time the volume of supplies is expected to
increase up to 50 percent. At present, the company "Mina Corp" is engaged
in supplying the TTC with aviation kerosene. In December, the time of the
contract with it expires, and the United States intends to announce a new
tender to ensure, according to Spratlen, a just competition.
Before 2009, the TTC was named the airbase of international
antiterrorist forces. It was opened in December 2001 and was intended for
supporting operations on the territory of Afghanistan. At first,
servicemen and equipment from several countries-participants in the
coalition were based there. However, representatives of the US Air Force
make the backbone of the grouping of late. Several weeks ago, Prime
Minister of Kyrgystan Almazbek Atambayev stated that the TTC would be
closed in 2014 because, first, the United States plans to withdraw its
troops from Afghanistan exactly by that time and, second, the validity of
the Kyrgyz-American intergovernmental agreement and the presence of the
TTC on the territory of Kyrgyzstan expires by that time.
