Lee names TV journalist as new press secretary

SEOUL, Sept. 27 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Myung-bak has decided to name a veteran television journalist as his new senior secretary for public affairs, a presidential official said Tuesday. Lee has approved Choe Guem-nak of SBS television as his choice for the post, the official said on condition of anonymity because no official announcement had been made yet. Choe, if formally named, would replace Kim Du-woo, who quit after being accused of taking bribes from a lobbyist for a troubled savings bank. Choe served as Washington correspondent for SBS television and was in charge of the economic and political desks before serving as the head of the SBS newsroom.
