Lee expresses condolences over death of 'donation angel'
SEOUL, Sept. 28 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Myung-bak expressed condolences Wednesday over the death of a Chinese food delivery man known for regularly donating his small salary to charity, saying he hopes the deceased showed a "life of sharing" through action.
Kim Woo-soo, 54, died Sunday, two days after his motorcycle crashed into a car while on a delivery run. Kim had been known for donating some 50,000 won to 100,000 won every month out of about 700,000 won (US$600) in his monthly wages to help needy children.
Some media called him a "donation angel."
"The deceased showed a genuine life of sharing through action, which means that what I own can become larger by sharing it with others," Lee said in a Facebook posting. "I wish the lofty spirit of the deceased will spread across our society."
Lee also sent condolence flowers to the funeral house of Kim, officials said.
