Russian culture in high demand in Hong Kong-official
MOSCOW, September 28 (Itar-Tass) - Russia and Hong Kong will steadily
strengthen interaction in the sphere of culture, Hong Kong's Secretary for
Home Affairs, Tsang Tak-sing told Itar-Tass.
He said during his visit to Moscow a memorandum on cooperation in the
sphere of promotion of cultural projects was signed with the Russian
Culture Ministry. "This agreement covers practically all spheres:
exhibitions, film festivals, cooperation by libraries, and arrangements
for exhibitions of Russian museums in Hong Kong and of Hong Kong's museums
in Russia," Tsang said.
"We plan to hold a festival of Russian arts in Hong Kong. The date of
the event has not been established yet, but this idea was actively backed
by the ministry. We also discuss the possibility of holding a Hong Kong
Day in Moscow," he said.
According to Tsang, "Russian culture is in high demand in Hong Kong.
Russia has a big cultural heritage and many innovative ideas. Cultural
content stimulates innovations," he said, "We have visited the Tretyakov
Picture Gallery -- this is a wonderful museum. " From Moscow Hong Kong's
delegation will head for St. Petersburg where it plans to visit to the
Hermitage and the Russian Museum, Tsang said.
"The just-signed agreement with the Culture Ministry allows for
holding exhibitions of Russian museums in Hong Kong," Tsang said.
He added that Hong Kong was ready for comprehensive cultural
cooperation with Russia.
