International forum on cultural heritage opens in Moscow
MOSCOW, September 29 (Itar-Tass) - An exhibition and a congress for the restoration of historical and cultural landmarks DENKMAL- Moscow 2011 is opening at the Manezh exhibition hall on Thursday to discuss world experience in the restoration of cultural heritage objects.
It's the first time that the Russian capital is hosting this
prestigious forum, which traditionally takes place on the sidelines of the Leipzig fair in Germany once in two years.
"The congress is supposed to study the world practice and attract
partners and potential investors to Moscow," Alexander Kibovskiy, the head of the Moscow Committee for Cultural Heritage, said.
The topics for discussion will include principles of state protection of cultural heritage, the recreation of lost facilities, the specific features of preserving religious monuments, landscape architecture and the art of laying out parks and gardens.
Leading Russian and foreign restoration firms, specialized state
organizations and representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church will
participate in the congress.
