Three Russian regions establish economic ties with Turkmenistan
ASHKHABAD, September 29 (Itar-Tass) - Business people, members of
local governments and heads chambers of industry and commerce of
Chelyabinsk, Omsk and Saratov have held a presentation of their regions'
potentials in the Turkmen capital on Thursday with the aim to establish
mutually beneficial partnership with that Central Asian country.
Intensification of ties with Russian regions is a key item on the
agenda of the 3rd Turkmen-Russian economic forum, sponsored by the
chambers of commerce and industry of both countries. Turkmenistan has
established close business ties with such major Russian regions and
industrial centers as St. Petersburg, Tatarstan and the Astrakhan Region
over the past few years.
"It is very important for us to establish close interaction with
Turkmenistan's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) for practical
fulfillment of economic agreements," the vice-president of Russia's South
Urals regional CCI, Igor Aristov, said at the forum.
The Chelyabinsk tractor plant, Aristov said, successfully coped with a
contract for 100 bulldozers for Turkmenistan this year, and next year the
plant would provide another batch of 200 bulldozers for that country.
Among other guidelines of advanced cooperation, mentioned at the
forum, there were proposals by Omsk companies manufacturing equipment for
oil, gas and silica production.
Representatives of the Volga Federal District offered high-tech
equipment made by Saratov-based companies Zhanar and
Saratovenergomashkomplekt for Turkmenistan's oil and gas sector.
